How does the code lock work and what happens if I enter the wrong code?

A code lock protects doors, hatches, garage doors and gates with a 4-digit code.

Setting the code. When you place a door or gate with a code lock, the keypad opens by itself — enter a code and the lock closes. If you'd rather set it later, turn off Settings → Controls & HUD → Keypad autoopen. Only the player who placed the lock can set or change the code.

Sharing access. Anyone who enters the right code is added to the lock's list and can open it from then on without typing the code again. When the owner changes the code, the list is cleared — everyone has to enter the new code.

Wrong codes hurt. Each wrong code gives you an electric shock and locks you out of that lock for a while: 15 seconds after the first mistake, then 30, 60 and so on, doubling each time. Trying again during the lockout shocks you again. After 10 wrong attempts you're blocked from that lock completely until the owner changes the code.

On Solo, Duo and Trio servers the number of people who can use one lock is capped. When the lock is full, even the correct code won't work — the owner has to change the code to free the slots.

Pick a code you'll remember and share it only with people you trust.
